Nook: The World's Most Advanced eBook Reader
60Nook will be released November 30th
Access over one million books, newspapers and magazines. Downloaded wirelessly, in seconds...
Barnes & Noble have just announced the news of the release on 20th October of their eBook reader "Nook". Details are still a little light, but here's what I've learned so far in point form:
- Over one million titles will be available.
- Color touch screen to preview your book covers.
- E-Ink display. It isn't back-lit. Read like you would a normal book. It doesn't glare. Text appears as crisp as a printed page.
- Make can make text bigger! 5 different font sizes.
- Bookmark pages, highlight excerpts.
- You can store 1500 books on your Nook. With an additional memory card you can hold 17500 more.
- A best seller or new release will be just under ten dollars. And there are also thousands of titles available free.
- Don't understand a word in the book you're reading? You can use the built-in dictionary to find out its meaning.
- You can lend books to friends! You can share your purchased books with other nook users for up to two weeks.
- Loads and reads PDFs (Kindle doesn't).

Funny I was just hinting to my family about wanting an e-reader for the holidays! Ah, another meaningful coincindence :) May I request that your next hub be on comparing the Kindle to the Nook? Thanks in advance!
Well I suppose like the days before cellphones, TV's, laptops and all the other things we take for granted one day we'll look back and say " In my day we had to buy books, and store them on racks we called bookshelves."
Useful information about nook. Thank u for sharing.
Thanks, Darkside, for that announcement about Nook. Kindle is Amazon.com's reader. There is also another one out by Moby Pocket. When Barnes and Nobel bring out their Nook, my son, Marcus, and I will apply to have a book we recently published at Amazon as an ebook also published at B&N. Then you can look it up and if you want purchase it for under ten dollars. It's a great book called "Selling Fast: We Sold Our House In One Day And You Can Too." And I don't mean sell as in give it away, either. We make money on each of our house sales. Of course, today's market may require a little more time than that, but the principles in our book still apply. Nice Hub. Don White
Congratulations! I see this is your 200th Hub!
Well done.
Great Hub!
It looks like Barnes and Nobel might sell a lot of nooks for the holidays.
Great HUB. Ain't technology GREAT!!!!
A portable bookstore? That's so dangerous for my wallet!
The screen quality is the major selling point for me. Easily being able to switch from a textbook to a novel is good too.
I like the idea - but guess it will take some time for these gadgets to become more affordable...

But where's the smell, the feel of the book? I know, darkside, I'm a dinosaur...this does sound pretty amazing.
